Forecasting Malaria
How can long term weather forecasting be used to predict disease epidemics months before they happen?  Tim Palmer explains how global climate models are helping predict malaria outbreaks, which kill over one million people a year.

Madeleine Thomson describes how the system has been used in Botswana.  Could understanding weather systems also help predict the epidemiology of other diseases like meningitis or dengue fever?
