Through the generous support of corporations and individuals, the Health and Climate Foundation is able to fulfill its mission to increase the well-being of people by supporting better understanding of the connections between health, climate and other environmental factors, and by supporting the use of this knowledge at national and local levels to combat disease and poverty.
The unrestricted gifts and grants we receive help us to promote cooperation between the health, climate, environmental and social science communities; to apply scientific and technical breakthroughs to improve public health outcomes; and to increase the capacity of health services to reduce the burden of climate-sensitive diseases on societies everywhere.
The HCF President's Circle recognizes those corporations and individuals that provide significant annual financial support to the institution of $50,000 or more. These gifts help ensure that we continue to improve our understanding of the links between climate change and public health, and that we continue to address these issues by supporting the development and application of the appropriate tools to help people, particularly in developing countries, have a healthy secure future.
In addition to the benefits of Council Membership, corporations and individuals who become Members of the President’s Circle between 2008 and 2011 become founding members and supporters of the Global Health and Climate Forum, an annual gathering of leading representatives of health organizations, environmental organizations, government agencies, corporations and academia to exchange views, debate, and take action on public health and related climate issues.
President’s Circle and Council Members will be invited to join delegates at the first Global Health and Climate Forum, which will take place in late spring 2009.
