council membership

Through the generous support of corporations and individuals, the Health and Climate Foundation is able to fulfill its mission to increase the well-being of people by supporting better understanding of the connections between health, climate and other environmental factors, and by supporting the use of this knowledge at national and local levels to combat disease and poverty.

The unrestricted gifts and grants we receive help us to promote cooperation between the health, climate, environmental and social science communities; to apply scientific and technical breakthroughs to improve public health outcomes; and to increase the capacity of health services to reduce the burden of climate-sensitive diseases on societies everywhere.

The HCF Council recognizes those corporations and individuals that provide significant annual financial support to the institution.  Corporations give a minimum of $25,000 annually and individuals, $5,000 annually. This supports to HCF helps ensure that we continue to improve our understanding of the links between climate change and public health and that we continue to address these issues by supporting the development and application of the appropriate tools to help people, particularly in developing countries, have a healthy secure future.

In addition to receiving complimentary copies of all HCF publications and invitations to events, Council members are encouraged to meet informally with HCF staff, to serve on program advisory committees, and to participate, in Washington and elsewhere, in small off-the-record dialogues on public health, global climate change, and related issues.

Starting in late spring 2009, with the support of members of President’s Circle, HCF will co-sponsor the Global Health and Climate Forum and invite the participation of the President’s Circle and Council Members.  At this forum, leading representatives from health organizations, environmental organizations, government agencies, corporations and academia will exchange views, debate, and take action on public health and related climate issues.
