Anti-Malaria Association
HCF and the Red Cross/red Crescent Climate Centre have awarded a grant to the Anti-Malaria Association (AMA), an Ethiopian NGO, to support its work as the secretariat of a Climate-Health Working Group, which is a joint effort of the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Meteorological Agency of Ethiopia. The task force will improve climate and health coordination in the alleviation of epidemics of climate-sensitive diseases.
AMA was established in 1998 to tackle the problem of malaria & its high morbidity & mortality in Ethiopia. It's vision is to see a strong and self-reliant society that could easily protect itself from major communicable diseases and problems of reproductive health.
AMA is a non-partisan, non-religious, indigenous NGO committed to empowering the community in order to improve the health status of society in general, and the very poor in particular. It aims to prevent the spread and mitigate the impacts of malaria, HIV/AIDS and other major communicable diseases and provide reproductive health services by mobilizing the community and working in partnership with stakeholders. It's goal is to reduce the burden of malaria, HIV/AIDS and other major communicable diseases, and poor reproductive health services on poor households of its target areas.
AMA was officially registered as indigenous NGO in January 29,1999 by the Ministry of Justices with registration number of 347.
